P2 Ceramics 1 Lora B

week of 3/22/19 - this week was really hard because over the two class periods i threw on the wheel 8 times with nothing fruitful. I dont know how this happened despite the bowl and cup I made in the past. I really wanna use the wheel for my 4 matching pieces project but i cant seem to get anything to come out of it. No matter how hard I tried to center it never turned out quite right. I hope to get better at centering from all this.

3/14/2019 - I made this piece on thursday last week and left it to set till monday to trim it. We did critiques of busts and mine is still drying but it is done. For some reason my cup was gone on monday when I went looking for it and I was really miffed about it cause I wanted to trim and glaze it. I did learn from this one piece about a better way to pull the clay and about he right thickness it should be

3/9/2019 - I'm finally completely done with the sculpting of my bust and i carved it out and left it to dry and be fired. I still think his head looks wonky but that alright. I also made this cup on the wheel. I really want my matching set with scraffito and relief to be made with thrown pieces. I'm not sure that I'm going to make this piece one of the series because I think I want to experiment a bit more. I'm thinking about covering this in one of the crystaltex glazes and maybe a second color for the small part on the bottom. I'm also thinking about adding a handle to this cup to make it a little more interesting.

3/1/2019 - This is my final stopping point on the editing on my bust. Me and this bust really dont agree with each other anymore. I had lots and lots of trouble in creating this bust and getting it to look even remotely like a  person. I do like this bust because of the amount of time and effort that ive put into it but I know that it looks really funky. I make the face too small just like I did a couple of weeks ago, so his head looks a bit like an aliens head. I learnt from the first time that I tried to put the face on how to proportion it more correctly and at least it does look much better than my first attempt to create the face. I made the eyes more deep set in, i elongated the chin so there was enough room for the mouth, and I made the nose an actually correct size this time. I'm glad that I'm about ready to finish this guy but I dont think that he looks the best.
